Title: Political maturity Luo Nyanza can learn from - Raila in eldoret
Post by: RV Pundit on October 15, 2021, 01:49:25 PM
There is a lot of political maturity now - even in Luo Nyanza and GEMA - where political intolerance has been a big problem.

Despite our ethnic politics - we should at least allow those we do not like - the right to be heard.

Just by the look of twitter and events of 2013 snd 2017 specifically 2017 repeat elections as time approaches and the emotions hit up. Parts of Nyanza will be back to not welcoming competitors . Its just amatter of time.

There is a lot of political maturity now - even in Luo Nyanza and GEMA - where political intolerance has been a big problem.

Despite our ethnic politics - we should at least allow those we do not like - the right to be heard.

Credit goes to the candidate and those who plan and run these rallies.  Eldoret was chosen for a reason. If you walk into a hostile political territory even in the good old USA,  and start talking crap, you will be booed and sent packing. There is a reason why Trump  never held his hate  rallies in NYC.

I think culture of political tolerance should start from bottom - from MCAS - for instance in places like Migori - the violence is not only against Anti-Raila but also btw candidates. I also saw some of it in part of western - where a political leader need a car full of armed thugs for security - because it likely to get violent. This is also true in many parts of Nairobi - slums especially.

In kalenjin any political violence will almost make you lose a seat - so even at heat of things - contestant try to avoid any violence - that would be interpreted - as immature dictator who will beat people up when elected .Even talking angirly or with a stern voice like most of former military or police - always end up making people fear you.

You need to smile, crack jokes, kiss babies, shake hands, and generally appear happy. You need to remove any gate in your house. Contribute money in harambees. People need to know they will be free to visit and approach you with their problems.

It’s a good show, seems like Kenyans have decided to move on despite online warmongering. Kenyans are individually not tribal or bloodthirsty, it’s the politicians. I remember in my high school the tribe was rich, poor, soccer player etc I was a very good soccer player, that was my tribe, Luos, luhyas, urban kikuyus etc this is what’s going on in urban Kenya, the differences are not tribal, some of these young people cannot speak tribe or native languages( by the way, I hate sheng, it’s as dumb as ebonics)  buts it’s the language of urban areas that will mostly vote Raila.

^^ Haha Geemail, hiyo tolerance ni selective bana. Raila has support and respect from everywhere including Looter's own backyard so its not surprising if he gets the red carpet.

The real test of political maturity will come when warriors lose the elections  8)

RV will turn into Afghanistan.
