In two months, Russia is planning to send a new experimental vaccine against Ebola to Africa, according to the country’s health minister. The efficiency of the drug, which is to be tested on the ground, is about 70-90 percent.
“Today we are discussing that we will have enough of Triazoverin vaccine in two months so that we can send them to our personnel in Guinea and test its efficiency in clinical conditions,” Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova said.
The vaccine has so far proved efficient against various hemorrhagic fevers, including the Marburg virus which is very similar to Ebola.
“The efficiency ranges between 70 and 90 percent and this is a very good indicator,” Skvortsova said.
Russia’ Virology Institute is preparing a whole group of drugs.

There is no motivation for temperate countries to spend time researching trophical disease or affairs.
Only when a country like Brazil or South Africa or Nigeria with enough resource to research on trophical disease...can we say good news.
Brazil has done it in Agriculture..and for the first time ever a tropical country has dominated agricultural and proven conventional knowledege that agri could only thrive on temperate climate to be wrong.
The same need to be done in disease...Africa and other trophical countries need to do this...in a big and sustainable way..otherwise trophic disease for both animals and plants..will continue to decimate us.
And in the meantime...mwafrika will be buying into conspiracy that HIV,AIDS,TB,Malaria and name it....are big conspiracy to reduce our population...or that pharma..or research institution are not "caring" for us.

The Ebola threat is slowly morphing into biological warfare territory. Worst case scenario is if the jihadists decide to incorporate it into scorched earth policy....

Next few years Africa will experience severe food shortages as the virus takes a toll. Kenya should be stocking up those silos with staples. I already have my box of chocolate supply for 10 years hahaha.

The worst thing about food shortages is that it helps the virus spread even faster due to compromised immune systems. Starving populations are wiped out even faster. Double whammy. The government of Kenya should encourage Kenyans to eat more citrus like oranges and ndimu and skuma to help prevent Ebola. Lemonade every morning one glass.

Outside of ground zero countries you are more likely to catch Ebola from a middle class population that travels often. In Kenya don't shake hands with your jetsetting pals with business interests all over pan Africa lol!

There is a push for a vaccine from non-other than Anthony Fauci. He has already suggested vaccinating entire countries in the affected regions. Big pharma has shifted into high gear.
Currently, there is a lot of panic in those countries.
I am inclined to also think there is plenty of misdiagnosis going on. A lot of tropical diseases, at least initially, have the same symptoms as Ebola.
If one diagnoses Malaria as Ebola in some remote West African country. The patient will be isolated or put together with the Ebola victims.
A man who would have survived with some quinine finds himself dying of untreated Malaria. In an Ebola ward. Panic levels hit the stratosphere and the cycle repeats itself.
Are there any measures in these tiny countries without any labs to mitigate against such scenarios?

Ebola is a member of a family of RNA viruses known as filoviruses
According to the American Centre for Disease Control first known outbreak of the virus occurred in the then Zaire in 1976. The name takes after the River Ebola.
British medical journal and New England Medical journal places the first outbreak of the virus in Germany in 1967. Named the Marburg Virus (which is what the Zaire outbreak was initially known as), after the German City.
An outbreak of haemorrhaging fever broke out in labs in Marburg and Frankfurt. Lab staff were taken ill followed by the medical personnel who cared for them.
The fourth outbreak of Ebola, after that of in Sudan in 1979, was in Reston USA in 1989. I leave out the role of the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases and CDC during the Kikwit outbreak.
Looking at the above one cannot come to the conclusion that Ebola is an African disease.
The primary reason for the spread, and rate of spread, of the virus in Africa is Economic. Adoption of IMF sanctioned SAPs and whatnot have led to the hollowing out of health services in most African countries.
African nations need to re-invest in their health institutions, embrace generic drugs and develop the capacity to manufacture generics- I tire when I write this since the Ngilus' of this continent will simply loot and overprice all tenders as she did when in charge (btw. which dog makes Ngilu Mininter for Health???), so end of insha.

Totally unrelated but you may recall that as late as 1972, the US Government wilfully withheld treatment from black males with syphilis. It didn't matter that they were going to infect their wives or that their children would in all probability have congenital defects or that they, black males, would likely end up dead. 1972.
