Events of last week when al shabaab overun a ugandan camp are still murky but one thing stands out,the slaughter was total by al shabaab. Shocking that Uganda has actually very good army.
What happened and I always say is when you panic and retreat thats when the massacre is complete this is a simple basic military principle, somalis ambush and fire at you relentlessly if you inexperienced like those soldiers the out come is disaster thats what happened to KDF in el adde again EAC fail to learn from past mistakes.

EAC =Weak force.

   200 Ugandan soldiers stood little chance when confronted by 800 motivated and well armed Somali's, the odds were stacked heavily against the Ugandans and they opted to abandon the base and beat a hasty retreat ... pursued and susceptible to ambush, it reeks of a colossal intel failure..... but even the Americans at Manda Bay were found nodding and shaken to the core ...

Was true till you mentioned americans....manda bay was totally different, the Americans had entrusted kenyans to safe guard the peripheral of the base so Americans were resting easy in the middle knowing they were protected by kenyans so they didn't see any need to be worried. If you saw the report from the Americans on the aftermath you will be shocked. Since that day they never trust any Kdf soldier at all because they blame them for the loss,the first thing KDF did as usual was hid in the bush when shabaab attacked. Americans were responsible for killing all the attackers after realising the KDF had fled.The bitter truth is KDF is made up of cooks,drivers and carrier corps you can't expect any brave person in KDF and that's why we have the weakest army in east Africa.
Back to uganda i believe and totally agree with Museveni that the soldiers are to blame. They should have asked themselves a simple question,is it safe in the camp or outside where shabaab surrounds you, if you can answer that question you will know its better to die fighting inside the camp because even if you run there is nowhere you running to.

Njuri you're full of matope..those Alshabab first send a suicide squad to blow themselves and your front line defense..before they send rockets , grenades and bombs.Then they follow with 1000 men on directions with machine guns.The only way out is for intelligence to work...so you know they are coming.If they ambush you especially in their stronghold ..it over.When you're facing shakahola crazies unafraid of death its not easy..NATO gave  up in Afghanistan. Biggest failure here n in Kenya is air force..to respond quickly with helicopter gunships and jets to blow them away.Americans n Turkish failed Uganda because they had air cover.Museveni need to invest in helicopter gunship n jets n drones. That way ground force can try to hold on for like hour as they wait for airforce to come n kill Alshabab or scatter them away

   Njuri.. I read the report, stories of KDF'S incredible cowardice were strongly refuted by the Kenyan military brass

  • Raila Odinga.President of the Republic of Kenya.
It just shows lack of:

1) intelligence-Having poor intelligence withing the community...they need to recruit Somali to give them regular intelligence and pay them handsomely.

2) Technology-Have proper live satellite data profiling human or object movement 300km radius 24/7.Also have drones to bomb such movements.

3) Human personnel-How can 200 soldiers battle 1000 soldiers? You need big battalions.

4) Betrayal-With the Ugandan  soldiers being underpaid, there must have been a soldier who was given maybe $30000 usd to give intellgence to alshabab..I remember of of the El adde soldiers telling me some of the kdf were sellling weaponry to alshabab which meant incase of an attack they should have been slow to act to save ammunition....thats how stupid africans are...infiltration is a very big possibilty.

If technology,quick response,proper command,enough personnel and hardware was available...such eventuality would not have happened.
