NASA acting to ensure the Supreme Court findings (see below) leader to better elections. Here you are opposing every initiative to guarantee free and fair elections and then next time you have taken whisky you'll post that you are against rigging. It's like a Governor who opposes the anti rape measures but occasionally mounts the platform to boast of his opposition to rape.

Maybe the rain. It's slash and burn strategy. They are doing all they can to avoid DEBE.

Safaricom is only being attacked because they did a good job compared to Airtel and Telkom (who failed to transmit data) - and for re-peat - IEBC has decided to grant Safaricom the monopoly of transmitting data. The idea is to cripple IEBC by besmirching and threatening it's vendors so they can hopefully withdraw their services...and fulfil NASA wish of NO election...leading to NUSU mkate.

Which areas did safaricom cater for and how do they know the results were transmitted?

Dikembe is picking up the wrong message from Safaricom response.  The message from Safaricom in a nutshell is If you need any more information IEBC has it.  Safaricom, Morpho, etc they have responded whenever accused on KIEMS(kits/transmission). IEBC on the other seems to have nothing to say about the state of KIEMS and especially transmission other than the generic we are purchasing an independent audit - they can't say anything confidently.  I haven't seen anything from them.

I am glad that pressure is being applied to the conspirators. Safaricom has been having very long days lately and I do not want to see the pressure relaxed. Dikembe / disembe should continue. I hope NASA will up their game by writing to the shareholders.

How did they conspire?  They are saying the results were transmitted.  That is a testable claim(that is why I am opting to believe them).  They just provided the network.  If IEBC pushed encrypted porn on their bandwidth, safaricom wouldn't be any wiser.  IEBC is the elephant in the room.  The qiestion is how do you get them to give up the information?

1. They agreed to provide service in areas they knew they had no mobile cover or 3G plus
2. They allowed the data to be sent knowing that the kits had their GPS switched off thus they cannot claim to know where the data originated from
etc

Agreeing to sell that which they could not provide would amount to sharp commercial practice as opposed to vote rigging.  Something Safcom are quite famous for.

Well then, does this tell us that all forms were transmitted or did the telcos neglect to report transmission failures?  This is a massive arse covering effort.  It's time for everyone to scatter and take cover.  The plot thickens.

Yes, they were transmitted.  If I were NASA I would work with that assumption.  And my concern would be IEBC reconfiguration of KIEMS kits before full accounting of what exactly transpired on KIEMS.

I think it is more like Collymore telling Chiloba "OK if you don't want the results from those areas not transmitted I guess we can assist you... here is a list of the areas we absolutely have no mobile cover..". You see Chiloba was not looking for areas covered by Safaricom mobile cover; He was looking for those without. He gave out contracts to companies that lacked that cover in those areas.

Safaricon is so politicized its not even funny anymore.  They are even using jubilee political language.  Ati "lynching of investors". It is the same tribal narrative that a certain jubilee is a party of  "investors" and hard workers- even the drunkard jigger infested slum dwellers have been programmed to  think of themselves that way.  Safaricon need to deal with the specific allegations that they have been charged with instead of joining Jubilee's propaganda rhetoric. Safaricon must understand that they make their money from both sides and must stop using this kind of weaponized political language to genuine charges and concerns.

Omollo,

I really think NASA are wasting precious time and resources on this issue(of mobile providers).  There are real issues with IEBC transmission and safaricom(whatever else one may think of it) is not one of them.  IEBC is entirely responsible for whatever problems(acknowledged and unacknowledged) that they had with transmission.  Unless and until they(IEBC) blame a third party, I think it's misguided to stop laser focusing on them.

I have no reason to doubt that forms were transmitted.  After that, when the data is within IEBC's possession, is where the problems arise.  All major contractors thus far seem to confirm that and have not reported any problems on their end.  One of NASA's irreducible minimums ought to have been a full accounting of what happened and what is so different this time round that it wont happen again in the next round.

That said, I would be shocked if any further clarity was to come from IEBC - with the possible exception of a court order.  And we know they can defy those with impunity.  So they will hold elections without having accounted for the main thing that got them nullified in the first place.  They get to eat their cake and have it.  It's an ugly situation.

I beg to disagree. IEBC just handed Safaricom a single sourced contract to deliver the same service under discussion.

For NASA:
1. There is a crime for which individuals have to pay. If they are not held to account, others or the same people will repeat. There has to be a price for breaking the law even if the accomplice is the government!
2. The Kenyan corporate world has come to take sleaze, corruption and law breaking as part and parcel of the business culture. We have as telecoms company that aids in rigging elections; provides private mobile phone data of the opposition to their rivals and when it fails; Mines the mobile data of judges so that they can be blackmailed and harassed. This has to stop like fifteen years ago

NASA has scoredca bullseye with this one. Safcom have absolutely nothing to lose by being transparent and they have attempted it. They have everything to lose by being opaque. Questions were raised about their security contract with go.ke. Now they are in IEBC rigging shenanigans too and siding with Jubilee/IEBC theft would be suicidal. Bob Collymore knows these are serious allegations and he responded as CEO. He has thrown the skunk back to IEBC and Chiloba is stinking badly. He will also have to respond as IEBC CEO. Safaricom need to answer the questions and stay away from the political language that some of its employees are starting to employ. They were part of the transmission problem that the court found.
