Hi Lord Shark,

What is your take on the Human Rights Watch report about AMISOM/KDF raping Somali women? Really shocking.

Thanks RV Pundit. Jakoyo the Amisom violation and the rights of the Somali women is not something new. What is appealing however is the lack of condemnation of the international community and the Somali government. This accusation is a threat to the gains made so far by Amisom in Somalia. Why is difficult for African armies to zip up their pants? Why prey on the same people you came to protect?

Most welcomed. Somalia is a black hole. Few dare to venture there..be it in international media or UN or human rights organisation..yes AMISOM have done a commendable job..but ultimately the somali people will decide the fate of their country.

They aren't being allowed to. Look at Iraq now. If they let the ISIL to go on they will hit a genuine rock and talk to the others and compromise. Only real enemies can make peace. Now the West will replace the other warring parties and complicate matters.

Basically Somalia war would have ended with Aideed taking power being overthrown and later some semblance of order. Today even if you pacify Al Shabaab territory you still won't have Somalia.

The problem is simple: The West has not accepted that Somalia is 100% Muslim. That is why they somehow expect a secular movement to rise and take power. That would never happen.

This human right watch report will work against Amisom in the future. The world has to accept that there is no pure military solution to the Somali problem. The question is when will Amisom declare mission accomplished before mission creep sets in and more damning allegations of human rights violations  surface.

WC Assasin: We do not have application as yet. How did you send the certificate and did I sign it. There is no corruption here.

Welcome Lord Shark.  VIP certificate is on the way.

Shark

These are periodic reports that come out, cause fake consternation and imaginary outrage then die off. There have been similar reports about African troops in Bosnia; UNAMSIL (Sierra Leone), UNAMIL (Liberia) and now UNISOM (Somalia). They often lead nowhere. May be some guy with no connections is fired and life goes on.

There was no KDF mention in that report. Those mentined are troops statined in Mogadishu which happens to be Ugandan and Burundian soldiers. AMISOM is composed of soldiers from many different countries, but each with a sector of operation. KDF is not in Mogadishu where the alleged raping took place.

KDF has similar issues but has concentrated on corruption around Kismayo.
