17B net profit. This guy is really minting money and creating wealth.

--Profit after tax rose to Sh17.2 billion, up from Sh13.3 billion in the same period last year.

--Profit before tax at Sh22.3 billion, up from Sh19 billion.

Nothing exceptional here,as long as the economy is growing, profits will continue to increase,if economy slows, profit slows,

Not everyone is making profit now. Profit is not made by default. You amaze folks with your ignorant rantings. EQ profit grew by 30%...

Like Njuri Ncheke always tells you just know few important things, economy is growing at 6-7% and interest rates are down which translates to more business activity hence more profits, nothing extra ordinary....that said, government should continue liberalizing as many sectors as possible to make business opportunity accessible to everyone, reduce corrupting through infrastructure elephant projects and focus more on social service,if that's what ranting means, its good to rant,

Without Prejudice.

Maybe you can use this information to help many other banks like National Bank that are barely growing. Perhaps you can start a consultancy dishing out ignorant irrelevants rants.

there you go again with irrelevant knowledge,National bank is doing very well since 2010,infact its one of the most valuable shares on NSE that a sensible person should own,Just like the other banks, its a testimony of ending state (politics) monopoly in business...when i start a consultancy, ill not have to work, ill employ people like you to do the donkey work but since you have scattered knowledge, ill look for better uniform brain,

Without Prejudice.

Am a skeptic.
I don't believe they just did some magic and beat KCB in profit after tax. KCB posted 16.4B While Equity did 17.15B.  As soon as they release they statements, look at that funny thing called 'extraordinary item' just under the Gross Earnings.

Most likely they dumped some stocks or government securities or something and realized capital gains. They don't have much land last time I checked

KCB stuff

So on a 22b they only paid 4b tax?
Wow, what a bargain!!!
Am going into banking.
If it was a company making good am sure they tax the hell out of them. But juggling money pays.
