The French have to become more capitalistic like Americans in order to increase their wealth.  Their generous pensions are no longer sustainable and it's a terrible place for even 4th and 5th generation french-born african immigrants (they have no chance in that society) They spend their lives stuck in housing projects in the parisian suburbs (only way to get out is to become a footballer)

Why are they demanding pay rise ? Simply because of Inflation

Frank Lopes Costa, a 35-year-old primary school teacher, was one of the demonstrators.

"This is not only about pensions. The plans are putting a question mark over the very heart of our social system," he told DW. "Times are already incredibly difficult, also because of rising prices. The reform comes on top of all that. Our society is becoming increasingly market-orientated, but we don't want that."
