Trees depend on the rainfall to grow.
But highlands determine if it will rain or not.

Who was the Kalejin scientist that made that very innovative statement? I want to nominate him for the Nobel Price for Physics. :D

Paul Sang aka Chaman Buch.

He was my neighberhor in Mau - he had 20 acres full of trees - I think he has sold the trees and land to some ambassador. Like many of us - we have Mau land for trees/tea - then homeland uko Bomet/Kericho.

One KANu maestro "Chaman Buch" - "Love me for free" - former Bureti MP - he was most down to earth leader - people loved him - he never gave out handout - told them to like/love him for free.

He won a re-election - his slogan then became - Wektann Buch - return me to parliament for free/bure. He was loved by people without any hand out - interracted with people - with his gamboots- and was like Biwofli wakoli.

Made mistake stuck with Kibaki  when he was appointed Ass Minister or Minister - defeated in 2007

Was formerly a high school principal.

He was right - rain come from sky - water come from highlands.

Go plant trees in middle of desert and see how much rainfall you'll get.

You are right. Go ahead and cut Mau Forest and we will see if the rains will come from the sky.

If we plant tea - or blue gum - what difference would it make.

we have immediate needs - of fighting poverty

Forest should be exploited.

Once we are rich like germany - we can re-forest it again

You are right. Go ahead and cut Mau Forest and we will see if the rains will come from the sky.

Choose the forest you want - tea and blue gum are trees- they bring in money

Mzungu came and cleared forest - kericho yote - we havent seen drop in rain - since 1920s

Small factor: micro-climate; HIGHLAND IS BIGGEST FACTOR;

SCIENCE IKO HAPA. FOREST ATTRACT RAIN IS HYPOTHESIS - NOT PROVEN SCIENCE. What is PROVEN HIGHLANDS attract Rain - because it's that point where warm air from oceans/lakes -  climb the mountain - is cooled - water get frozen - literally in mountains like Mt kenya or Kilimanjaro - you see the ICE CAP - becomes heavy in sky - as cloud - drop as rain .

Mountains also have high water table - water leaks - form rivers.

It's mountain that create rains - that then makes forest to thrive. NOT OTHER WAY ROUND.

Plant all trees in lowland - irrigate it - no rain will come. The warm air need to be lifted up so it can be cooled and air condensed - only huge mountain can do that.

Deforestation has been implicated as contributing to declining rainfall in various regions (including the Sahel, West Africa, Cameroon, Central Amazonia, and India), as well as to weakening monsoons (Fu et al. 2002, Gianni et al. 2003, Malhi and Wright 2005). But the links remain uncertain.

Plant trees as carbon sink - but dont think rain will increase.

Also understand why leeward side of mountain without wind will never get rain..Laikipia versus nyeri..wind plus mountain is rain..anything else is nonsense

Leave him to die in his ignorance on things we learnt in primary school.

Btw, those blue gum trees are a disaster to the enviroment. Trees also act as a resevoir for rain water. Since Mau Forest was depleted by the likes of Pundit, Narok Town is now at the mercies of floods.

Anyway, if you do not learn some basics in primary school, you will not get the rest later. Pundit is a good example.

We all read that nonsense that trees attract rainfall.
There is nothing proven in science like that.
SEARCH the internet.

We grow trees - to make money - I personally want to go into big tree seedling business

Empty love of enviroment when you havent planted any is funny

Go to Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru - see how many trees people plant.
