Meanwhile, the big thieves (the dollar billionairs that grand mullah keeps mentioning) have been left alone. What is going on here?

Every miscreant in town & even those who are politically invalid have concluded that President William Ruto is weak and can't come after them. Using the billions they looted in the past decade they have decided to directly challenge the Ruto regime...interesting few months ahead.
— Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC (@ahmednasirlaw) November 25, 2022

this is a good move. it won't stop corruption but it will make ghieves work harder. expect more money to be moved offshore and politicians to flee kenya once they lose power

Yes they have to get more sophisticated in hidding their wealthy in shell companies, lawyers, proxies and all that. Which also increase the risk of becoming another waiguru - when the proxy - decided to go rogue.

Basically I think there is more hope in middle tier - than fighting the big cats - who have huge political influence to stop investigation.

EACC should focus on the middle class enablers of corruption. Then maybe they will refuse to enable the big cats corruption.

These guys with 200M - you can bet the PS and Minister took home 2 billion - but they are sophisticated at that level - and will go to Mauritus - register shell companies - come and invest in kenya like foreign investor.

This has been the drill since kibaki era - steal money in kenya - take it to Mauritus or such island that clean your wealth -bring the money back as foreign investment to kenya. Moi era was switzerland - keep the money abroad - for fear one day you could be overthrown and need to run to exile.

this is a good move. it won't stop corruption but it will make ghieves work harder. expect more money to be moved offshore and politicians to flee kenya once they lose power
