Saudi Arabia - Ruto Needs to Address this
« on: September 04, 2022, 07:40:15 PM »
Ruto will have many issues on his plate to deal with, but one of them needs to be this issue of Kenyan girls going to Saudi Arabia and coming back dead or being tortured.  They have to stop these girls from flying there and if it means they have to clamp down on these agencies run by radical Somali's in Nairobi then that's what will need to be done.

Kenyan embassies should be disbanded. They serve no purpose other than drain coffers.

I have witnessed kenya embassy few years ago with Chinese and Indian workers. I wonder what goes on there

Parliament had at some point suggested banning flights to Saudi from Kenya or some similarly drastic action over this. I didn't hear of it again. Maybe they decided it was impractical. Either way, govt must ban 'employment agencies/agents' brokering jobs to KSA and then go after them with the tenacity with which they go after Al-Shabab outfits. Literally, all the horror stories have come from there. You never hear of any other country despite many Kenyans working domestic jobs in other Arab countries. High time Kenya got serious about this. Going to KSA is like time-traveling back to 1000 A.D. No basic, modern, legal protections as you'd expect in even poor corrupt countries at all. Yaani you can't even afford assumptions like, if someone enslaved you or killed you and got caught by the police, they might be in trouble. Very different universe there.

You will see severe actions in a few months when Ruto gets in power. I have told him about How Kenyans and other Africans suffer greatly in Gulf countries. As we speak, we have a niece in detention in Saudi. Most Kenyans go there innocently, but as soon as they arrive, they realize it is donkey work. Girls work 16 hours a day with no food, and the only way they know is to run away. Once they run away, they go into the hands of cartels who trade and house them for sex. Without passports, they get stuck in a vicious circle of violence, rape, and abuse. I will lobby aggressively to end the Saudi policy of snatching people's passports as soon as they enter the country. Kenyan Embassy's capacity should be robust so that they can issue travel documents instantaneously for anyone trying to head home. It is hard to change the policy in Saudi. Still, Kenya can print additional travel documents for people in such countries or issue them immediately after distress calls come through. Without travel documents, Kenyans and most Africans suffer. Solving this problem as an African block is more effective than solving it as individual countries. Kenya can still have their own ways of solving this problem. I think having an effective Embassy that can house and facilitate the real-time transfer of those that fall in the cracks is the best route. Of course, those training and human trafficking should be dealt with. They should sign a contract with the Kenya Government that includes the safety of their clients. Iraq, Yemen, and Saudi are the worst, with Iraq topping the list. Saudi is the volume because cartels are robust, so many Kenyans and Africans end up there. Iraq has fewer Africans, but most never return; they go thoroughly to slavery and the sex business, which ends in anguish and death. Ruto understands all these and will work on policies that bring Kenya and African dignity; that is building a good economy to deter people living the country!

I've learned it's the National Employment Agency which works with these modern-day slave-brokers in the Gulf, in the name of finding employment for our youth! It must be immediately regulated by parliament which must make it PLAINLY illegal to seek and broker domestic work in these problematic countries, ESPECIALLY Saudi Arabia!

Another good idea I've seen on Twitter is that names of those who are sent/have been sent there, plus copies of passports and details of agents/employers must be forwarded to our Embassy there ASAP! It must be a requirement that the girls report to the embassy every month for them to keep tabs on their welfare. Anyone who doesn't report, Embassy can signal the alerts and all sorts of interventions can begin. I've heard there are different kinds of agencies, some are not so bad. Embassy/Govt must make a complete list of all the ones who took girls who ended up in these horrible situations and BAN them from Kenya, full stop. Also make it illegal for ant Kenyans to work with them.

A mix of these is a start!

We should also register strong diplomatic protests to put pressure on the Saudi Govt to tell their nasty slave-keeping families to cut the crap. International PR against KSA and its friends, with other African countries. Enough is enough!

Long-term solutions, yes, but we must do something NOW to address this. It's too much! And it's ineffective to tell girls not to go because they're desperate for work and these agencies are sly in the way they market the jobs to all these uninformed, poverty-stricken girls. Our govt can't just wash its hands. It MUST do something. Build capacity in our Gulf embassies to keep tabs on Kenyans there. Or work with other African govts to coordinate tab-keeping efforts in the Gulf. Just like what happened in Ukraine, only Africans can care enough about other Africans in distressful situations to do something quickly to help.

I feel like you're distracting this thread. We are talking about our girls being trafficked into slavery, torture, organ-harvesting, murder in the Gulf under the guise of employment and all you can talk about is Kiambu. The latest incident to spark the current outrage isn't even connected to Kiambu. :o Why not start a thread to discuss how you want Kiambu to be governed if this topic is of no interest to you??? THIS THREAD IS ABOUT KENYANS ENSLAVED IN SAUDI ARABIA!!!!!!!

ruto and uhuru signed a contract with middle east govts agreeing to supply workers to these nations. Ruto is part and parcel of this mess. get your head out of ruto's ass to see clearly

I was trying to focus on the big picture. Whe are not boys trafficked, they can work harder but they can also fight and have sex with those secluded princes. They want girls, they can do what they want with them, they are desperat. Why are there no boy maids in Keny?
