People think Hamellica has no hardware. Even there can show Putin dust. Combined with NATO and sanctions things go haywire.

I am doubtful.  About Putin calling off an attack.  That would seem stupid.  Because that leaves Ukraine the latitude to rearm, and NATO legitimate arguments to be more involved.

I feel like he has boxed himself in and he has to show something to his domestic audience.

He has achieved two objectives thus far, he has wrecked Ukraine's economy and compelled the West to take national security objectives seriously. Russia wants Ukraine become a neutral buffer state between it and NATO. Many EU countries are open to that notably Germany

His brinksmanship was not a waste.

How does he gain by wrecking Ukraine's economy?  I see that as loss.  Because he loses whatever little soft power he had with Ukraine.  Ukraine will look even harder westwards for direction.

NATO was not keen on Ukraine, so he gains a "victory" at great cost that he already had for free.  He probably is more worried about Ukraine joining the EU than NATO.  A thriving liberal democracy on Russia's doorstep is bad contrast to the mafia state that is Russia.

His behavior also strengthens the Western alliance.  The notion that Russia was a receding threat gone, they redouble their focus on NATO.

You sound defeated

Nobody except Russia interested in battle right now. Biden not looking for embarrassment so looks best way out, sanctions. US got smarter with time. Putin stuck in stone age war era with nuclear warheads. Today wars very different. Biden got it right this time and NATO pulling the right strings. Soon Putin gas will be declared unsustainable not green enough and trouble begins. Now hes playing armed comedian.

So what was NATO doing in Iraq and Afghanistan ?
Germany is about to approve NORD meaning doubling gas deliveries in Europe.

Correct. Putin is still in the era of putting boots on the ground to take territory. Those type of wars went out of fashion 70 years ago. He should consult yelstin and Gorbachev. He has really embarrassed Russia. When the only Ally you have is Luka Lukushenko people start questioning your maturity. Putin should stick to cyber wars.

When will people accept that Russian is super-power with serious nuclear heads and 10 percent of earth land (twice larger than the US). It's appear western europe have a problem accepting and respecting Russia...but have no problem kneeling down to the Yankees!

This ego and dick measuring is needless. Russia, China, and US are now untouchable. Not by anyone. US can never fight Russia. Russia can never fight China. China can never fight US. It would be a MAD war.

Those three countries can invade any country unilaterally and nothing can be done to them. Maybe those with nuclear heads are safe - the rest of us - we are at their mercies.

Ukraine and eastern Europe remain Russian biatch. China can walk to Taiwan and beat them blue. Nothing will be done to them by the US - who pretends to be a global policeman.

Even ignoring that they are part of NATO, their interests align better with the US than with Russia(in its current incarnation at least).  It's possible that can change if Trumpy authoritarian types somehow find their way into power in most of those countries.

They missed vital lesson from WWII. Leave Russia alone. Ukraine is good enough buffer. Why do they want to aggressively move near Russia? For what purpose? Reject Ukraine NATO application and move on.  Ukraine - will just be fine - if they want to join EU - yes - but
NATO - that is provocation.

NATO= ANTI RUSSIAN ALLIANCE. Anyone joining it is declaring war against Russia small small.

Ukraine is lost for Russia and many of the Eastern European countries that are in NATO or in the EU like Poland and the Baltic states will never look East again. Even the smaller countries like Georgia will be very carefull when dealing with Russia.

Russia is a military power, but an economic dwarf. Unlike China which is an economic and military power, Russia has taken the complete wrong way. Under Putin only the military has prospered and a few people close to Putin. The rest of the country is third world, but with freezing temperatures.

Yes why not join EU for economic benefits - and leave defense or NATO nonsense. It totally sensible for those countries to join economically active western Europe but they should not provoke Russia by joining military alliance whose raison-de-tre is to be military counter-force against Russia. That is stupid of them.

Take a chill pill buddy Russia is not Iraq, Libya or Afghanistan . You need friends in the military and economists to tell you what most of us know, a war with Russia is suicide even without conventional weapons. Sanctions against Russia would destroy the European economies and the accompanied retaliation by Russia would send the world economy to a recession because of high gas and oil prices. Just do a simple research on who between the Chinese and us here has suffered the most economically from the silly trade war. Inflation in the US is at 7.5% while it is 1.5% in China while the trade deficit has gone up more than 30% in favor of China. This Ukrainian issue will end the same way the Cuban crisis ended where the US will give Putin most of what he wanted but quietly like they did when they removed those Jupiter missiles from Turkey but agreed to make it secret to save face. If you have been following what the European leaders are saying lately including by the German Chancellor today ,Ukraine's membership of Nato wont happen any time during his rule. So don't get too exited by the madness being peddled by the military industrial complex as they make billions out of arms sales. Last year alone those fuckers got 400 billion out of the 700 plus billion defense budget. Lockheed alone received more money than the state department so you know why diplomacy is not good business for them. European companies are so intertwined with Russian business I was surprised that Italy alone has almost 500 companies involved with Russia alone , now imagine how large that number is for Germany.
I will leave you with a military point of view from a military guy for you to educate yourself before you get carried away by the cool aide you are being fed by our fellow Americans.

https://www.rt.com/op-ed/548322-war-russia-us-nato/

You are watching too much Russia Propaganda. Russia, in the mightiness of US firepower is the same as Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and the rest. Putin knows back breaking sanctions will weaken Rusion for decades, and fighting will have him deposed! As always, he will chicken out slowly as NATO position themselves!

Boss punguza hiyo kitu they feed you and me called main stream media propaganda. We probably have kids here who might be send to war in case this idiots pushing for it while sitting in air conditioned offices in DC  and their lap dogs in London and Brussels. I am very interested in military stuff because I grew up as a kid of an airforce dad. I loved history and took it as a minor in college with a major in economics .Anyone lying to you that even NATO can fight a war with Russia even a conventional one needs their head examined. We have always dominated the battle field because of air superiority something that is impossible to do with a peer competitor like Russia and China. Our aircraft carriers are floating coffins because of long range standoff weapons that could sink anything. That leaves us with air refueling and those tankers will be the first targets in a war followed by the AWACS that provide mobile radars. Our systems are so integrated and that makes them very vulnerable to electronic warfare/jamming. Just google what a Russian bomber jet did to the crew of the US Donald Cook a few years in the black sea. It jammed all its systems and the sailors were left blind even the guns could not fire. The British tried to approach Crimea with their latest 1 billion pound destroyer HMS Duncan and was swarmed by Russian fighters despite having the most powerful radar in the world and had to leave the area. Stop watching too much American military channels and ex generals on CNN boasting of the impossible. We have the biggest military budget in the world yet we are scared of a country with a 10% the same budget because most of our stuff is bloated to feed the military industrial complex not because we are better. Matters economy Russia has a huge problem but militarily we can do shit to them.

Russia is super aggressive but when war happens and all are aggressive equation tilts. Maybe say if China join Russia ala WW1 which is likely. China cannot risk economic and military war with US and EU same time. Will be reduced to nothing. War is nasty all over.

Nobody can go to war with nuclear heads. That would be suicide and mass deaths. This is just muscle flexing.

It is the other way around. America had no appetite for war anymore. It is Russia or rather putin who is looking for relevance. Both China and Russia use this belligerence to delfect from issues at home. Xi and putin do this time again. The average American doesn't give a rat ass ask about Russia or Europe. They see this as diplomatic bullshit.

How does he gain by wrecking Ukraine's economy?  I see that as loss.  Because he loses whatever little soft power he had with Ukraine.  Ukraine will look even harder westwards for direction.

His behavior also strengthens the Western alliance.  The notion that Russia was a receding threat gone, they redouble their focus on NATO.

An economically weak Ukraine won't be able to arm and pose a threat to Russia first, it is  useful tactic to scare other countries - we can destroy your economy just by amassing troops on your border thus paralyzing it. This is a grey area Russians excel in. They foment conflicts and freeze them. Russia thinks like a 19th century power, they only comprehend hard power. They were basically strafing civilians in Syria with no repercussions, no UN security council resolutions stopped them.

Thriving liberal democracy thing is Western conceit, don't buy it.

Ukrainians never loved Russians since Stalin's forced collectivization campaigns led to mass starvation of Ukrainians.

An economically strong Ukraine would not pose a military threat to Russia either.  The other former Soviet satellites, bordering Russia, except Belarus, are already in NATO, and are not leaving just because Russia is threatening Ukraine.

Ukraine a would-be natural ally for Russia(they are the same effing people) has somehow been pushed away by Putin.  That's basically like shooting yourself in the foot.
