In Russia Putin killed the media first. After that, Everything else came very easy.

Well Putin was put into power by Oligarchs using their media houses. Once in power Putin took control of the media houses by simply overtaxing them or trumping up charges and the media housew were transfered to Govt or Govt friendly Oligarachs
In Kenya its all about advertisments mainly Govt advertisments thats where Media houses get their revenue.
