Very sad. He meant well but went the wrong way in doing it. I hope with his death TZ can reunite and forge forward. I think he has been dead for days.

He been ailing for a while. I was told by a Tanzanian 2 years ago that his doctors had urged him to get specialised care for heart condition but he turned it down. Preferring to continue treatment in TZ. Covid just finished him off. So sad that he didnt listen to anyone. He is a Michuki or Matiangi type. Good administrators but cannot lead well

RIP and prayers to his family and friends but ignoring Covid and leading Tanzania in that direction was very dangerous especially for a man of his age and heart issues. Our ex-president here was extremely lucky to have the best care in the world, some healthcare professionals are actually shocked that he made it throug. I am now trying to convince a lot of Kenyans, some my relatives to take the vaccine if offered. There are lots of skeptical people out there because of some bullshit they heard from Church or some other source. I have seen Covid decimate people, it's no joke. I have two people I know very well, in their 40s, one is using a walker while the other one can hardly get out of bed because of chronic and devastating fatigue.

Kibaki was extremely lucky he got good treatment after the accident. However, the stroke damaged his memory so bad. I remember watching speak in DC around 2003 or so and his memory was far gone. He later improved with time but he has got good gene as he is still living even now. On covid as predicted this will slowly kill Africans in waves and by 2023 we will have a lot people dead. Right now anyone with a preexisting condition in ke is getting killed by covid. Just this week 3 in my area are dead. A buddy bro left a bill of over 5 million. Hopefully with less people takimg the vaccine in india ke can obtain some of the supply from there

I fell out with him but the boy tried. He did very well.

Now, having said that, Uhuru has done some very bad things.

I am afraid which has been my fear all along that COVID-19 is about to become an African disease decimating communities just like aids did. Covid-19 and poor healthcare systems is a bad combination, it also takes you very quickly and painfully. If you recover, the long term effects are not even completely known. The guy I know who now uses a walker is dealing with blood clots and is on blood thinners, he was completely healthy before COVID. There people dealing with heart and liver issues, falling teeth, pulmonary embolism etc I was looking at photos of COVID devastation and there was this one guy who was being shocked after his heart stopped, something about his situation sent chills down my spine, he looked around 40, in his boxers, not out of shape, tubes everywhere, from there on, for me there was no joking around. I am now fully vaccinated but still take all the necessary precautions.

Personally I would be happier if this befell M7 - the remaining archaic vestige of dictatorship. Sudan is doing really well after Bashir with all sanctions lifted and prisoners released. Sometimes nature knows best.

Anyway they have new female Ag PORT now let's hope they remain stable and peaceful.

Babu is good actor - but the body will eventually give in Magufuli style. He has long history of Diabetes. Uhuru and his chain smoking - and possible lung cancer - is very careful - not see him without a mask - and has probably long vacinnated himself.

 :) These are brutal dictators who think others have no right to political freedom. For the first time Tanzania has no opposition as they were all rigged out, jailed or exiled. Few would see that as great leadership.

Baba must get vitamin boosters and botox shots now and then. On top of kiwi he look 60. Uhuru need to lead jab by example - there is all rumors about blood clots which scare most folks. He could even get aspirin shot and pretend it astra-zeneca. Symbolism.

Thanks for the info.  I missed that part.   Since chronic atrial fibrillation cannot be ruled out as a cause just by itself, I think they will run with that story.  He indeed had lousy execution even though he was coming from a good place.

Seems he have had the pacemaker since his university days. So this was chronic problem. I didnt realize that pacemakers can last that long. May be he was getting his replaced. Covid is definately what killed him. It killed all 3 of his state house advisors. His wife is rumored to be still in the hospital. I hope te leaders will now move quickly to contain covid. At least create awareness. It was his time.

Covid is the rumor.  But the heart condition seems to have been a well known fact.

COVID uses the same enzyme the heart uses for entry into the body - ACE. People with any heart conditions are at a higher risk. I hear he had Cardiac heart failure and an ego, so he was extremely vulnerable

Kenya is still not sure if a non-Kikuyu or non-Kale can be President, let alone a woman; so we are some ways off.  She seems like a good person; I fear she might be overwhelmed by the vultures Magufuli kept at bay.

The domineering stature of CCM in TZ politics gave Magufuli a free hand to pick a woman as VP. Not to take from her suitability. If Suluhu has the mettle to control the party she could last a full term. I am noticing there is quite a number of female DGs in Kenya too which is a good way to nurture inclusion. But at the national level I see nothing female on the horizon.
