Title: Jomo family joins long list of those who eyed Naboth's vineyard

Naboth’s Vineyard

I Kings 21
1 Some time later there was an incident involving a vineyard belonging to Naboth the Jezreelite. The vineyard was in Jezreel, close to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. 2 Ahab said to Naboth, “Let me have your vineyard to use for a vegetable garden, since it is close to my palace. In exchange I will give you a better vineyard or, if you prefer, I will pay you whatever it is worth.”

3 But Naboth replied, “The Lord forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my ancestors.”

4 So Ahab went home, sullen and angry because Naboth the Jezreelite had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my ancestors.” He lay on his bed sulking and refused to eat.

O, kings and beautiful vineyards. And the king's assistants said Aye! The Ayes have it.

First President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta has been accused of grabbing a three and a half acres of land from his cousin.

In documents filed in court, Mr Peter Mungai Ngengi (Wakameme), says his father’s land at Ichaweri, Gatundu District of Kiambu County, was seized by Mzee.

Mr Mungai is the son of Ngengi Kungu, a brother of Jomo Kenyatta. He says that the land was passed on to him by his father, now deceased.

Could you add the end of Jezebel?

I Kings 21
23 “And also concerning Jezebel the Lord says: ‘Dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.’

24 “Dogs will eat those belonging to Ahab who die in the city, and the birds will feed on those who die in the country.”

25 (There was never anyone like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the Lord, urged on by Jezebel his wife. 26 He behaved in the vilest manner by going after idols, like the Amorites the Lord drove out before Israel.)

27 When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and fasted. He lay in sackcloth and went around meekly.

28 Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite: 29 “Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself, I will not bring this disaster in his day, but I will bring it on his house in the days of his son.”

Jezebel Killed

2 Kings 9
30 Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she put on eye makeup, arranged her hair and looked out of a window. 31 As Jehu entered the gate, she asked, “Have you come in peace, you Zimri, you murderer of your master?”[e]

32 He looked up at the window and called out, “Who is on my side? Who?” Two or three eunuchs looked down at him. 33 “Throw her down!” Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot.

34 Jehu went in and ate and drank. “Take care of that cursed woman,” he said, “and bury her, for she was a king’s daughter.” 35 But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands. 36 They went back and told Jehu, who said, “This is the word of the Lord that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel’s flesh.[f] 37 Jezebel’s body will be like dung on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, ‘This is Jezebel.’”

Thank you very much DB. I have some troubling questions:

1. Why does Jezebel put on make up, groom her hair and generally make herself beautiful? Is she looking to cut some kind of "deal" with Jehu?

2. I am not sure but either Jezebel or some other evil character had the body shared by vultures sent from heaven. Could you help?

I have no answers except that which has already been written.

2. The original Jezebel was that heathen woman of Phenicia, the daughter of Ethbaal, king of Tyre, who was married to Ahab, king of Israel; and who brought with her into Israel her idolatrous worship—which was but a worship of the sun, under the forms of Baal and Ashtaroth, or Astarte. She brought with her also four hundred and fifty priests of Baal and four hundred of Ashtaroth,—eight hundred and fifty in all,—“who ate at Jezebel’s table.” This original Jezebel caused King Ahab to be worse than he otherwise would have been, as it is written: “There was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.” 2[Page 456] 1 Kings 21:23. And, when the wickedness which she would do was greater than even Ahab could bear to do, she herself did it, in his name, and was merry in it: legalizing her enormities by documents written in the king’s name, and sealed with his seal. 3[Page 456] 1 Kings 21:7-11.

Thank you very much DB. I have some troubling questions:

It would appear that even Mzee's Gatundu land was grabbed.

Didn't kamwana tell ICC that he is landless?  What section of the constitution grants kamwana immunity from the law?

However, in opposition to the suit, Mama Ngina Kenyatta says that Mr Mungai is full of conjecture.

Together with her son Uhuru, she says the claim cannot be continued since the law grants immunity to a sitting president.

Kenyan law protects a sitting president from prosecution but not from eyeing Naboth's vineyard.

But it does not extend to Mama Ngina.

Quote
Protection from legal proceedings.
143. (1)
Criminal proceedings shall not be instituted or continued in any court against the President or a person performing the functions of that office, during their tenure of office.

(2) Civil proceedings shall not be instituted in any court against the President or the person performing the functions of that office during their tenure of office in respect of anything done or not done in the exercise of their powers under this Constitution.

(3) Where provision is made in law limiting the time within which proceedings under clause (1) or (2) may be brought against a person, a period of time during which the person holds or performs the functions of the office of the President shall not be taken into account in calculating the period of time prescribed by that law.

(4) The immunity of the President under this Article shall not extend to a crime for which the President may be prosecuted under any treaty to which Kenya is party and which prohibits such immunity.

Thanks.  Mama Ngina is probably pushing her luck as former first lady.  Or Queen mother.

I think the law should be changed. The president can be protected from frivolous litigation where the courts can decide which cases are a nuisance.

I think he should only be protected from suits related to his functions as President.
