The MP for Likoni is Mwalimu Masudi Mwahima. He beat Shakombo in 2007 and in 2013. So all the political rejects of Mombasa team up in Jubilee and will give Jubilee the numbers they failed to get???
Members of the Jubilee coalition in Mombasa County Sunday launched a campaign to counter the push for a referendum by Cord and governors.
They said the clamour for the referendum was a scheme by some Cord leaders to resuscitate their political careers.
“The Okoa Kenya and Pesa Mashinani push for referendum is a ploy by Cord leaders to have an avenue for political relevance,” said Likoni MP Suleiman Shakombo during the launch of the movement at Palm Tree Hotel.
He will chair the anti-referendum brigade. Other members are former assistant minister Mohamed Jahazi, former Mombasa mayor Rajab Sumba, Kisauni elder Abbas Dola and TNA officials Matano Chondo, Farida Toli, Warda Ahmed and Ibrahim Babangida.
Mr Shakombo said Cord leaders were planning to turn Okoa Kenya into a political vehicle for the 2017 General Election. He said the referendum campaigns were scaring away investors and tourists.
The group faulted governors for demanding more money, saying most of them had not accounted for what they had received from the national government.
