Title: Pope to visit Kenya in November
Post by: GeeMail on June 22, 2015, 11:42:53 AM
Quote
It is now official: Pope Francis will visit Kenya in November. State House on Saturday confirmed the Vatican had officially reached out to the Kenya government and agreed on a papal visit at the end of the year. However, the two governments were working on the specific dates.

Why should you care?
1. This is Pope Francis' maiden tour of Africa. He will also visit Uganda and Central African Republic. Kenya is 'honored' to be included.
2. The Pope is head of the Catholic church, a sect that is 1.2billion strong across the world.
3. He is the alleged successor of "successor of saltpeter" by some accounts. Wherever he travels, he is both head of state and the head of the Catholic church or sect. If you care about such things, this is the man to watch.
4. His church has a net worth of about $8billion. This is a hugely conservative estimate and does not include such things as the priceless artworks of people like Michelangelo, gold ingots and real estate.
“The Catholic church is the biggest financial power, wealth accumulator and property owner in existence. She is a greater possessor of material riches than any other single institution, corporation, bank, giant trust, government or state of the whole globe. The pope, as the visible ruler of this immense amassment of wealth, is consequently the richest individual of the twentieth century. No one can realistically assess how much he is worth in terms of billions of dollars.” (...) ."

5. His visit will be hot on the heels of the Italian PM's and Obama's in July.
6. The Pope is trailed by a huge security team and advisors, many of whom precede him on his trips. This means money pumped into the economy.
7. The Pope's security is closely monitored, even though this particular pope is extremely easy-going, a nightmare to his security team in some ways. The closest one may compare his Kenyan visit is with Philippines in January. http://www.wsj.com/articles/pope-francis-visit-to-philippines-creates-mass-of-security-concerns-1421226237

Nothing could elevate Kenia to celebrity status than an attempted hit on him.....especially a successful one.

That's cheap publicity. The last time someone attempted it it was in St Peter's. What would matter is if someone defied what he stands for and stood for God instead.

Catholicism and Adventism, two sects of extrabiblical inspiration and infallibility. But there are subtle differences.
Catholicism has continuity plans unlike Adventism so trust the infallibility claims to persist long after his assassination.

Do you believe the Bible any more? Do you believe what's written in Joel 2?

Yes I do, that's why I believe Joseph Smith is God's messenger to this generation, the last Great and Infallible prophet.

What I love about Mormons over Adventists? At least Mormons have room for other average Joes to exercise Joel 2:28 and not just the Great Prophet Joseph Smith

I notice the sarcasm. Do you also believe Matt 7:15-16; Jer 5:31 and Jer 14:14?

Jeremiah 5:31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Jeremiah 14:14 Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

Both Joseph Smith and Ellen White are touted as INFALLIBLE INTERPRETERS of scriptures. Just as Catholicism. What is more entertaining than the Ice Age trilogy and Madagascar? The irony of it all is lost on you

Totus tuus, we love you.  We chanted on the last papal visit way back.  The first time a million strong filled Uhuru Park.

"Pope calls for harmony amongst different faiths....

Pope condemns domestic violence, ask Kenyans to shun materialism...

Pope condemns "private developers aka land grabbers.

It is my hope that our time together may be a sign of the church’s esteem for the followers of all religions; may it strengthen the bonds of friendship which we already enjoy.

In this light, and in an increasingly interdependent world, we see ever more clearly the need for inter-religious understanding, friendship, and collaboration in defending the God-given dignity of individuals and peoples and their right to live in freedom and happiness.

I know that the barbarous attacks on Westgate Mall, Garissa University College, and Mandera are fresh in your
minds...."

This is the most apolitical, political pope, I have seen. Touched on every aspect of what really fails Kenya. Welcome Papa
