Title: Let's Pray
Post by: vooke on November 09, 2014, 08:02:45 AM
Good morning church,
There was a man of God,an artiste Bishop Ben Bahati who suffered an accident some weeks ago and he succumbed to his injuries the other day. Sad sad. Watch his two songs here.

There is the tendency in humans to be jolted into the reality of our frailty whenever somebody close to us dies. But it should not just take death to remind us, we have the Bible. Some verses to this effect

Psalms 39:4-5 (ESV)
4 “O LORD, make me know my end
and what is the measure of my days;
let me know how fleeting I am!
5 Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths,
and my lifetime is as nothing before you.
Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Selah

Psalms 90:12 (ESV)
12 So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.

James 4:13-14 (ESV)
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

All vooke is praying is we won't obsess with death to the point of lunacy and paranoia nor should we forget that we are mortals and like it or not, we are checking out of this world.

Have a frail/fleeting/mortality conscious Lord's Day

Now, let us worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
