I desire to go to hell and not to heaven. In the former place I shall enjoy the company of popes, kings, and princes, while in the latter are only beggars, monks, and apostles. ~ Niccolo Machiavelli on his deathbed, June 1527

This nonsense.Rail followed the arab slave traders route nearly to the dot all the way to congo. This was the shortest route to interior all factors considered...ever since someone got interested in Africa.Nearly 1000 years ago.Arabs and its porters use to walk the current route all those years have established trade and othe relationship all those years just like the famous silk road. The road basically pass thro no mans lands along the borders of tribe avoiding passing the interior of any tribe .like now there were two options...route thro tz..southern corridor and kenya...northern corridor...route design to pass the least tribal resistance as possible thro tickets and forest where possible.
