Jubilee year of mercy
« on: May 07, 2015, 03:11:39 PM »
http://w2.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/apost_letters/documents/papa-francesco_bolla_20150411_misericordiae-vultus.html

So a jubilee year of mercy has been announced. I'm surprised the followers here did not extend it to Nipateans. Ama here we need no mercy? Can the followers elaborate on this year of jubilee? A few things to note in bold:

3.?...The Holy Year will open on 8 December 2015, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

4.?I have chosen the date of 8 December because of its rich meaning in the recent history of the Church. In fact, I will open the Holy Door on the fiftieth anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council.

5.?The Jubilee year will close with the liturgical Solemnity of Christ the King on 20 November 2016. On that day, as we seal the Holy Door, we shall be filled, above all, with a sense of gratitude and thanksgiving to the Most Holy Trinity for having granted us an extraordinary time of grace.

14.?.....Similarly, to reach the Holy Door in Rome or in any other place in the world, everyone, each according to his or her ability, will have to make a pilgrimage. indulgences.

24.?My thoughts now turn to the Mother of Mercy. .....Let us address her in the words of the Salve Regina, a prayer ever ancient and ever new, so that she may never tire of turning her merciful eyes upon us, and make us worthy to contemplate the face of mercy, her Son Jesus.

If you intend to commend my signature, address me as DB. The picture I removed on request from Windy Assassin depicted the persecution of Christians by Rome. Notice the three phallic symbols in the picture to the left. Does it remind you of anything?

Do you have anything to say about the pope's declaration of the year of jubilee of mercy?

Hi Nuff Sed,
I would sooner address you as daily, weekly or annual bread than you admitted not to be behind Nuff Sed.

The artistic impression reminds me of Lion King more than anything else.

The phallic that you mention it, there are two on Kenyatta Avenue one directly outside Bank of Baroda main door. Right outside. The other one is on the other side of the street with some three or so home guards.

Then there used to be one on Muthaiga roundabout. With Thicker Road upgrading, I think they took it down.
vooke is more interested in facts than artistic impressions but if I missed something, please feel free to share.

About Catholicism, I don't know what to make of that jubilee thing. Again, please share what you see.

Asante dada

Daily bread, those persecuted christians believed in the Trinity. If you think those three pillars associate Trinity with pagan Rome, I really would invite you to read about the religion of the ancient Romans. They believed in a pantheon of numerous gods, not the unity of God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit which is a uniquely christian concept. You simply will not find that among the Romans or anywhere else. Those christians were getting killed because they believed in only one God and refused to participate in the pagan temple sacrifices, in addition spoke a language the Romans found confusing, like saying weird things about eating Jesus and so the Romans considered them atheistic for rejecting the other gods and creepy and were rife with all sorts of nasty rumours about christianity being a cult of cannibals. They thought christians chopped babies/people up and ate them usiku in secret like wachawi wa Kisii are claimed to do 8).

As for the "Jubilee year", just chalk that up to another weird, idolatrous catholic thing, and be at peace. :)

Here pope stops just short of calling Rome the devil, for its unbiblical doctrines and persecution of the followers of Christ is really what divides the church. Even then, Christ did not call for unity in falsehood and paganism but unity in the truth.

Laying the ecumenical carpet and walking it. The readers' comments put Nipate's Controversial forum to shame.

Quote
Pope Francis has said that it's the devil himself who keeps evangelicals, Catholics, and Christians from other denominations divided, and rejected the notion that it's heretical to believe that all Christians are one.

"Division is the work of the 'Father of Lies,' 'the Father of Discord,' who does everything possible to keep us divided," Francis said in a video message to a gathering sponsored by the John 17 Movement, according to Catholic Herald.

It is well and good to inform us about persecution of Christians by pagan Rome. However, persecution was practised on a wider scale and for a longer period by papal Rome. It's amazing that common websites like Wikipedia do not even mention papal Rome's role in the persecution of Christians. This particular Wikipedia page does not even mention the inquisition.

Pagan Rome persecuted Christians, but papal Rome outdid its pagan counterpart in numbers and in length of time, reminiscent of the persecution that is about to break out in these last days against all who will not bow at its idolatrous practices and rebellion against God. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians#The_Great_Persecution

Various numbers of those killed have been stated (50 million, 68 million, 100 million, 120 million, and 150 million). Of course, Roman Catholics typically give much smaller numbers.

Quote
For suspected and actual heresy, sentence of excommunication and deposition was fulminated against governors, more than for any other causes. Treasonable plots, conspiracies, insurrections, and rebellions, were formed, promoted, executed, and by pretended pleas of religion were justified, delighted in, and eulogized. Those infernal proceedings were blasphemously ascribed to the inspiration of God, and when any success attended the scheme, it was imputed to the divine approval, and unquestionable miraculous interposition. To execute those traitorous machinations, or to die in the attempt, was pronounced to be infallible proof of the most exalted piety, and the certain path to eternal felicity; entitling the actor to the honour of saintship, and the glorious crown of martyrdom. On the contrary, obedience and loyalty on the part of Papists to Protestant governments, are declared damnable sins, for which there is no pardon either in this world, or in eternity. To convince the bigoted adherents of the Papacy, that all such treasons are works of pre-eminent piety, pretended prayers, discourses, sacraments, ecclesiastical censures, absolutions, oaths, and covenants, with all that is apparently sacred and imposing in religion, have been prostituted; and all that is exciting and fascinating in superstition has been effectually employed among the votaries of the Romish Priesthood, who are divested of every sentiment of religion, virtue, or humanity. The absolute duty of assassinating Protestant rulers, especially after sentence has been pronounced against them by the Pope, is constantly taught and vehemently proclaimed; with the most deliberate resolution, and after the most solemn preparations, that nefarious criminality has frequently been perpetrated; although it has more often been unsuccessfully attempted: but in all cases the remorseless murderers have been exalted in Popish estimation to the very highest honours: and some of them were worshipped with the same adoration which is performed to the Romish canonized saints.

The horrors of Rome's persecution of Christians is one of humanity's worst historical injustices equally as bad (or worse than) pedophilia that should be reopened and re-examined in the international courts.

You can read more about the Inquisition for some of the horrors of Rome against Christians. Too horrific to be posted on decent forums like Nipate.

Quote
While travelling on a train in Spain I talked with quite a number of Spanish?Catholics, and some of them in hushed voices said, while armed soldiers were passing to and fro outside our compartment door, "I am a Catholic, but I do not agree with the way the priests are persecuting the Protestants." You hear such statements in all Catholic countries. Six months ago, in Brazil, a fanatical mob led by a priest destroyed a Baptist?and a Presbyterian Church. It got out into the papers there, and honest Catholics all over the land raised their voices against such barbarity. The same is true of the priestly murders of Christians in Colombia. But Rome does not mind, nor is she checked by mere protests.

Quote
The Horrors of the Inquisition, ordered and maintained by the Popes, over a period of 500 years, in which unnumbered millions were Tortured and Burned, constitute the MOST BRUTAL, BEASTLY, and DEVILISH PICTURE in all history.[p. 732]

Quote
In general, whenever the Papacy extended its territory, it appears that a significant fraction or even a majority of the population was killed, as occurred in Bohemia, Spain, Central and South America, with the Waldenses, and in the extermination of the Vandals, Ostrogoths, and Heruli. Therefore the number killed was larger than the number remaining. Extending this proportion to all of Europe with a population of 50 to 100 million at the time yields an estimate of 50 to 100 million or more killed as the Papacy extended its sway over Europe. For example, the conversion of Prussia to Christianity in the thirteenth century was accompanied by deliberate extermination by the Teutonic Knights.

In history, the Nazi were called to account for those killed under their regime in Germany and elsewhere. The question one may ask is why Rome has not been called to account for its crimes against peace and against humanity.

Menace, Feb., 1927
Rome has won another victory, a victory which forever places a dark blot upon the history of one of the strongest Protestant counties in one of the strongest Protestant States in the Union Tipton County, Indiana.
Little Nellie Fortune, a girl of twenty years, Convent Number 096, saw a chance to escape. Although the night was bitter cold she made her way across fields, through woodlands and over streams, finally reaching a farm house a distance of five miles away, before the coming of daylight forced her to seek shelter She crept into an out-building and was found by a kindly farmer and was taken in and given food and clothing. This man was preparing to move and Nellie was taken to the home of a neighbor, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Fuller of the Rock Prairie community. Here she was welcomed and given a home by this good Protestant family.
She related the many things which take place behind the convent walls of St. Joseph's Convent, and said she could stand the conditions there no longer and resolved to escape or die in the attempt. She had come to America from Northern Ireland, and stated that conditions in the convents here were far worse than they were in Ireland.
She was happy in her new home, telling her benefactors that "it felt good to be a Protestant." Plans had been made for her to attend church and "be a real Protestant", as she expressed it.
Life was beginning to take on a brighter aspect for poor little Nellie Fortune. She had a good home. she had freedom, and what was more, human love and companionship. But her joy was to be short lived. The unrelenting hounds of Rome were hot on the trail. At last she was located. Sheriff Claud Louks, of Tipton, (elected on a 100 per cent ticket and sworn to defend the American home, etc.) was called and without a warrant or any authority, save the request of the church of Rome, went straightway to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fuller and seized the pleading, crying defenseless girl, who begged for her liberty and fought with her last ounce of strength to be permitted to remain with those who had befriended her. Mr. and Mrs. Fuller also pleaded and begged but to no avail.
Nellie was dragged back to the convent of St. Joseph, to face God alone knows what.

Naples, Oct. 21, 1890.--The judicial authorities have instituted proceedings against the superior of the monastery popularly known as the "Convent of the Buried Alive," where the dreadful discoveries of the existence of starving and demented nuns within its walls was recently made. Another domiciliary visit has been made by the police to a conventional refuge of a similar character at Tencuraboli, where no opposition was made to their entrance. From information obtained at this establishment, it was found that institutions, for the "Sepolta Vive," or "Buried Alive," under the rule of St. Orsola, are not uncommon. In vatican circles it is asserted that at the next consistory the Pope will enter a protest against the violation of the monasteries here. In the meantime the priests of this city are sending in their adhesions to the remonstrance by Cardinal San Felice, Archbishop of Naples, against the recent visitations.
Another account says: "Sixteen nuns were found within a state bordering on insanity. They were covered with rags, and their surroundings were of the most filthy description. Many had forgotten how to speak, and the demeanor of all of them was more like that of animals than human beings. Those who were induced to talk expressed themselves perfectly resigned to their fate.
"The cause of the raid upon the nunnery was the desire of the parents of a young girl who had entered the convent to recover her. She had been banished to a nunnery on account of a love affair objectionable to her family. The latter, being unable to communicate with her, had complained to the police, and an order from the Minister of Justice for her removal was obtained. She was found to be a mere skeleton, and her parents became half-crazed at the condition in which she was discovered. The nunnery has been closed and a strict investigation ordered by the Governor of Naples.
"Later intelligence states that ten more nuns have been released from the subterranean dungeons of the nunnery of 'The Buried Alive' at Naples which has just been opened by order of the Minister of Justice. Among them were eight young women who had been incarcerated against their will by order of their parents. The police have been ordered to visit all nunneries in Southern Italy which are closed to the public. Cardinal Sanfelice left Naples for Rome to obtain further instructions from the Pope on the subject. Immense excitement has been created by the disclosures."

The conclusion of the book.

Quote
We need to be careful not to show hostility to Roman Catholics today because of the sins of the past. I am sure that many of us know many wonderful and loving Roman Catholic priests and church members. But it is important to know the facts of history, or else we may repeat them. As church and state grow ever nearer to a union in the USA, it is vital for us to be familiar with the dangers of religious persecution so that religious liberty can be guaranteed for many years to come. Because of the dangers of cloistered convents, they need to be prohibited or else regularly inspected and opened. We also need to beware of religious influences that lead to wars. For these and other reasons, it is important to preserve the facts of history, or else they may be forgotten altogether. There is hardly any knowledge of the facts of religious persecution among American citizens today. But Lecky, at least, in his day felt that the knowledge of such persecutions was so widespread as to require little justification. This shows that the facts of history are rapidly being eroded away, and there is a continual need for men and women to search out and make known the truth so that it can be preserved for future generations. Without such efforts, in a generation or two, it may be commonly believed that hardly any persecution occurred during the Middle Ages, and the stage would be set for a repetition. In fact, such persecutions could begin much sooner than we realize.

Nuff Sed,
SDA's biggest curse is they can never think beyond Ellen White's lunacy.
She insists Jupiter is inhabited by tall hunks, that is the gospel. So their collective IQ and reasoning skills will NEVER exceed Ellen White's. But I note some bold primates who attempt to think outside her intellectual and spiritual bankruptcy. One day I will teach you about the various strands of Adventism

Look at this statement from your sewers;
Quote
The Sabbath will be a special test in the end time. The believer will have to make a choice either to give allegiance to God's Word or to human authority (Rev 14:7, 12).

They are still clinging to the idea of US& Catholicism uniting to hunt down brain dead Adventists for nothing but sabbath keeping. It is not because it is logical or feasible or even likely but simply because Ellen White said so and it is so clear that they can't cover it up.

What do you give as proof of this? Nothing but scraping news items for anything remotely hinting at validation of their Pope White's madness.

Just imagine
U.S. ignoring Islamic extremism, overcoming its secularism and narrowing on a bunch of vegetative(pun) morons to the exclusion of everything else simply because they 'keep sabbath' :lolz: :lolz: :lolz:

And here is Adventism dalliance with Rome chronicled

Not to mention your dialogue with....guess who...

It is interesting to find Adventist corporate executives speaking out of both sides of their mouths on this subject. When it suits their purposes, such as proving Ellen White's divine foresight, then her anti-Catholic language constitutes a "fulfillment of prophecy". However, when it makes them to appear radical, they are quick to admit that Ellen White was only saying what other Protestants of her day were saying. Notice what General Conference President Neal C. Wilson said under oath:

Quote
Although it is true that there was a period in the life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when the denomination took a distinctly anti-Roman Catholic viewpoint...that attitude on the church's part was nothing more than a manifestation of widespread anti-popery among conservative Protestant denominations in the early part of this century and the latter part of the last, and which has now been consigned to the historical trash heap so far as the Seventh-day Adventist Church is concerned.10

SDA corporate executives cannot have their cake and eat it too. Either Ellen White had divine foresight about the Catholic threat, or else she was merely repeating the anti-Catholic sentiment of her time period. Which was it?

Wilson, former president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Court Transcript of United States vs the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission vs the Pacific Press Publishing Association and the General Conference, Reply Brief for Defendants, p 4, Civil Case #74-2025 CBR, presided over by Judge Charles B. In keeping with the established trend, I commend Voke once again for dredging up the net and coming up with another gem. The trouble with fishing in deep waters is that unless you take a shower immediately, as the gems recommend, you tend to stink.

Quote

This quote remains true every time. History from the time of pagan Rome to papal Rome even to our time has vindicated it. On Nipate, false protestants verify it in word and deed.

The Adventist church is the only standing protestant movement in the world today. Any good student of history knows there are always loyalists and dissidents in any major movement. Statements by some Adventist leaders tending to approve of the man of sin are nothing new (and are even expected). For every one of those, one could possibly find numerous statements by Catholic leaders commending Adventists (Rome's Challenge which appears on that website you have provided is a good example, where Rome openly admits that only Adventists are true to the Bible principle of sola scriptura, and in the same breath condemns the Sunday keeping Protestants for their fickleness). The majority of the world perished in the flood. The majority of Israel's religious leaders condemned Christ. It is no surprise if some Adventist leaders, like the majority of protestants today, in keeping with Bible prophecy, see nothing wrong with embracing the man of sin.

I will address Rome's ecumenical issues and the protestants' fickle stand in a separate thread.

You will have to contend with this statement from the horse's mouth.

Quote
The Adventists are the only body of Christians with the Bible as their teacher, who can find no warrant in its pages for the change of day from the seventh to the first. Hence their appellation, "Seventh-day Adventists." Their cardinal principle consists in setting apart Saturday for the exclusive worship of God, in conformity with the positive command of God Himself, repeatedly reiterated in the sacred books of the Old and New Testaments, literally obeyed by the children of Israel for thousands of years to this day, and endorsed by the teaching and practice of the Son of God whilst on earth. Per contra, the Protestants of the world, the Adventists excepted, with the same Bible as their cherished and sole infallible teacher, by their practice, since their appearance in the sixteenth century, with the time-honored practice of the Jewish people before their eyes, have rejected the day named for His worship by God, and assumed, in apparent contradiction of His command, a day for His worship never once referred to for that purpose, in the pages of that Sacred Volume.
