It made it through my last library purge for a good reason. Should be done by Monday at which time I'll be a certified Ebola expert hahaha.

By the way I think someone is in quarantine in DC as we speak.
-
Yup. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a good read. I'm doing a systematic review on extinction (chiefly ebola) after I finish my cancer one. . nearly finished. I didn't think I'd do another systematic review but after looking at my forest plots/analysis, my hypothesis proven, it's the greatest feeling. Do you want to help me with the next one? We could co-author.
-
The only ecology experience I have is analyzing the population of 3 fish in my boyfriends fish tank hahaha. Good luck but I can review the report to see if you are cooking figures. I'm better at that....
-
No thanks. I'd rather a coauthor. It's a meta-review, you can't cook figures.
-
Last bio model I worked on was a diabetes 2 modeling of glucose-insulin kinetics by applying some fluids dynamics approach to chaos theory. I learnt to respect biomed researchers and forgot to return this book to the owner hehehe!

By the way I really enjoyed artificially spiking drinks in simulink/matlab. Even modeled how to kill someone by mixing certain foods tehehe.
-
Wow. Impressive. This would be med not biomed, biomed tends to be more science. Med is more philosophy/ethics.

Huh? That's deadly?
-
That was a joke although before you drink anything from a suspected foe elementary chromatography can do wonders. Feeding to the cat/dog also helps. Anyways I think Oct Nov dec will be interesting months for Ebola. The figures for Sept looked somewhat constrained to me, either it's being deliberately under reported or people are dying and not being found. I'm very impressed by Nigerians.
-
On the ground is most always a different story. I wouldn't follow the hype. Stick with known facts about ebola.
Chromatography? Sounds familar... I'd rather take my chances on me than risk my kids (pets).
You should coauthor with me. I take issues about ebola with a grain of salt. You make it sound exciting. I'll do everything, you could just do the reading.

Ebola is exciting. It's the pandemic of our time and possibly the most interesting in human history since the Black Death. This at a time when medical technology is at its highest peak. Aids has been interesting but the slow action of the HIV virus as well as infection method makes it less of a threat than something like Ebola. The interesting lead to me thus far has been the doc using HIV drugs. Every clever African on the continent knows to get those ASAP.
-
By the way I was watching the world population ticker, stay tuned. 7 billion is an interesting number in more ways than one.
-
ARTs aren't easy to obtain. 600/- per treatment, long lines, there's not enough HIV med supplies. Pandemic of our time? That's a lofty title. . I think technology is a pandemic.
-
7 billion, how so?
-
In a sense you are right about tech when I look at the types of posters that have internet at their fingertips. And Facebook wants to add more...
-
Interesting looking clip.
I'm going back to sleep. I'm sick at the moment. Shivering with body aches, sweating, headache etc.
Thank you for the chat, please have a gorgeous weekend. :*
-
Take care gal, those are not good symptoms lol. I'm just sayin...have a fab weekend as well.
-
I have always liked that chimp clip.
You might find this one funny too. Modeled on Charles Taylor.

Just got out of bed to throw up but nothing came out... so I'm sitting on the toilet seat tapping on my ipad. I read that blurb Brynn, love it, but you're making me sicker. I doubt I have ebola but I've had swine flu before in 2009. Yup. Took 9 months to recover...
-
How do u end up sick anyways? You should nip symptoms at the first sign. I rarely get sick coz if I sneeze I'll drink a whole glass of orange juice lol.

Malaria!

Hint to Kenya CDC keenly following me on Twitter instead of doing research lol
Ebola survivors develop immunity. Serum from survivors can help as proven in black market.

I think I have diarrhoea. Food poisoning.
I went to get some lemons for some lemon tea and this one giant cockatoo raised its giant wings and squarked at me back the f off. It then clipped 7 fresh lemons from the lemon tree and viciously nibbled half of each. Left me nothing.

What's with the green pencil? Is that a pencil?

It's generalised... I don't think what you're reading is accurate. Seems like an outsider's account untrained in public health. The media may choose to ignore the problem. Govts don't ignore. Even if the condition is medically rare, there's a policy called the 'rule of rescue'. This mean they have an ethical obligation to treat for national security interests even if it costs one person millions.
-
All countries should have this policy provision:
Rule of Rescue
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rule of Rescue is a term coined by A.R. Jonsen in 1986 that is used in a variety of bioethics contexts:[1]
'a perceived duty to save endangered life where possible' (Bochner et al., 1994, pp901)
'the sense of immediate duty that people feel towards those who present themselves to a health service with a serious condition' (Nord et al., 1995b, pp90)
'an ethical imperative to save individual lives even when money might be more efficiently spent to prevent deaths in the larger population'(Doughety, 1993, pp1359)
'the powerful human proclivity to rescue a single identified endangered life, regardless of cost, at the expense of any nameless faces who will therefore be denied health care' (Osborne and Evans, 1994, pp779)

I read the author's bio.. http://www.amazon.com/David-P.-Clark/e/B001IXNQ3Q/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1
Yep, someone untrained in public health, politics, epidemiology. It's blatantly obvious.
Brynn, stop reading it. It's not true.

Nice. What is that? Is that a rubber pencil for tablets? I must get one. My fingers get sick of tapping at times...
-
Yeah they got different styluses. I actually take real hand notes on an application called bamboo when I don't feel like typing. Get them in all colours. I got blue and yellow too...

I love it! I have to have it. My real hand notes is shocking. Noone can read. I avoid reading and writing.
-
I think I'll get this one instead... this one has crystals I doubt swarovski though. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-9-Pcs-Swarovski-Elements-crystal-pen-stylus-with-color-diamond-Touchscreen-Pen-for-ALL/1871232650.html

Wow, maybe I'll get that too lol.
-
Yeh I know right ! I'm sure the crystals will make a little calming sound for my fingers. That could fascinate me for hours. Plus it's functional in the sense you could use it as a pen as well. Yours looks more classy though.

Check this out: http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/10/2925937/best-stylus-ipad-review
Love it ! I could draw on my iPad. :o
-
You could literally paint on your iPad though it's not as seamless as it sounds lol. It's more like crayon art instead of fine art....
-
I see. I won't get it then. I'll just borrow yours. I'm going back to sleep. Definitely food poisoning.
