Title: Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce
Post by: Kim Jong-Un's Pajama Pants on July 03, 2016, 07:52:27 PM

era is over.  The new 100 m women's race boss is Elaine Thompson.  Elaine has been on a tear this year.  In this race she qualifies while equaling the Jamaican record(really a world record, because Florence Griffith Joyner was on steroids).

It may be time to prepare Rudisha's obituary.  Nyairera also threatens Caster Semenya, but I doubt Semenya can lose to any real woman.

If you compute the cuteness*track-performance product, the Pocket Rocket remains way ahead.

From yesterday's USA trials, I'd say the Bowie lady is one to watch.

It was quite a performance, considering that for this sort of event the guy is a "geriatric".   One hopes he has not been visiting "doctors" in St. Kitts & Nevis sort of place ...

St. Kitts & Nevis.  Isn't that where Kim Collins is from?  The guy is 40 and has been running like he just started sprinting.  Even beating Trayvon Bromell, though Bromell was having ankle issues.

He pulled a hamstring recently though.

Gatlin is definitely an oddity.  Or he is just on something people haven't caught on yet.  Tyson Gay ran more like his age.

I also have my reservations about Flo Jo’s world records. Her athletic success and subsequent death might have been caused by steroid or drug use.

They should look at all the records that still stand from the 80s, especially the women's, with a view to expunging them.  Jarmila Kratochvílová's 800 m record from 1983 still stands today.  She also set the 400 m mark in 1983, but it was broken 2 years later by an East German, Marita Koch whose 1985 record also still stands today.

In those disciplines, clean women dreaming of world records will forever be chasing a mirage.

The 10,000 has been an Ethiopian domain as long as I can remember.   Ethiopians normally have a few, but very disciplined runners who win for a long time, before another one comes along.  Kenyans produce more, but less disciplined guys, who fall off the radar as soon as the earnings start to roll in.

Wasn't always so.   Here starts the history:

(Announcer seems to be saying "Keino", but its actually Temu, a true Kenyan great.)
